Mexico, one of the most dominant
members of CONCACAF, play their football at the Azteca Stadium in Mexico City.
Mexico are consistently highly placed in the FIFA World Rankings and are regular participants at World Cup Finals.
Mexico are one of only 6 teams to qualify for 6 consecutive World Cups since 1994. Furthermore, during this period, Mexico have been able to consistently qualify for the knockout stages; an achievement that can only be matched by Brazil and Germany.
In 1999, Mexico became the only
team from the CONCACAF to win a FIFA recognised competition after victory in
the Confederations cup. The tournament was hosted by Mexico and saw them defeat
Brazil 4-3 in an enthralling final.
In addition to this success, Mexico are the most successful nation within CONCACAF winning an unrivalled amount (10) of CONCACAF Gold Cups (previously known as the CONCACAF Championships). Due to their superiority alongside USA, Mexico have been invited to play in the famous Copa Amercia on many occasions finishing runner up in the first appearance in 1993 and again in 2001.
Mexico's home strip was always
renowned for consisting of the colours of their national flag. Green shirt, red
shorts and white socks have been ever present since the 1950's. Previously, the
Mexicans wore a Maroon kit with dark shorts.
However, in 2015, Adidas broke the mould when they produced a black home shirt for Copa America. The shirt had a dark grey pattern on the front accompanied by 3 bright green stripes on the sleeves; the same colour as the Adidas Logo and the Mexican crest. Adidas made sure the 'tricolour' appeared on the shirt with the colours of the Mexican flag appearing at the bottom.
2016 saw the return of the traditional green shirt. The shirt itself had understated stripes running down it along with Adidas stripes running down the side. A standard white v-collar along with white shorts and red socks made up the strip worn at the Copa America.
Mexico kits have produced many
top selling players over the years. Former Manchester United striker Javier
Hernandez has been one of stars, as well as the man whose goal record he is
chasing – former Bolton Wanderers forward Jared Borgetti.
Other popular players have been Rafael Marquez and Andres Guardado or legends like Claudio Suarez and Hugo Sanchez. At UKSoccershop, our extensive range of shirt printing even allows you to customise your shirt with your own name and number.
